I agree that many of the players in the free games are bad players, and it can lead to the deterioration of your game if you start emulating the other bad players. Players have a tendency to lower their standards when they are playing for fun. If a new player sees this going on, he may adopt a similar playing style, which will be fatal once he sits down in a live game. However, I do believe that there is something to be gained from practicing online.
